Can you believe it?! The Melting Pot is celebrating our THIRD ANNIVERSARY!

We’ve got some all-star special ingredients this time around, including Lynette WilliamsGabby EssAndrea DalyMara RosenbloomJuno Brown Silas Mérez, and more.

And of course, our meat and potatoes: Jon Braman, WebbafiedMaG, Arthur Lewis, and the Melting Pot band! (That’s Rose Rutledge, Jon Lijoi, Bobby McCullough, Sam Weisenberg, and Ray Richards-McNaught.)

Come celebrate with us!

The thing about playing music with @jonbraman is: sometimes he pays you in ballet-dancing root vegetables. (Taken with Instagram)

I rued the day the Beatles were unfortunately born into this world. They are, in my mind, responsible for most of the degeneration that has happened, not only musically, but in the sense of youth orientation politically, too. They are the people who first made it publicly acceptable to spit in the eye of authority.

Tonight, I’m singing Sinatra, Ray Charles, AND The Platters. Get ready to get fiftified! (Taken with Instagram)

I read this yesterday. Completely turned my thinking around on “online promotion” and what it is I actually do as a musician. Worth checking out for anyone interested in, well, music in the digital age.

Had my first gig on the cajon last night. Thinking about quitting everything else and just hitting this thing all day. It’s like being back in high school, drumming on the desk, except instead of my Latin teacher telling me to shut up and work, it’s MaG and Jon, playing games with English, and an audience who, quite frankly, loves this shit. I remember when I was a kid and you used to have music lessons and there was that saying “Practice makes perfect.” Practice does not make perfect; practice makes permanent. You can practice the wrong way, it’s permanent…

This Thursday, our freestyle rap improv comedy whirlwind performs at Gramercy Theatre. (I’m not in the picture, but I promise I’ll be on stage.)

After the gig, with the wonderfully talented Lynette Williams
